Domestic Violence National Week of Action 2016

The Office of Wellness Services recognizes Domestic Violence National Week of Action in October. We will be offering interactive workshops and activities, a self-defense training, and much more! Check out the 2016 Domestic Violence National Week of Action schedule below:

MEDIA MONDAY, Oct. 17:

Raise awareness through social media by changing your profile picture and posting about domestic violence. Use #endviolence throughout the week.

T-SHIRT TUESDAY, Oct. 18:

Participate in the Clothesline Project, a national program to address the issue of violence against women. This is a come and go event – it will take 10-15 minutes. Pick a time Tuesday or Wednesday, bring a friend, and come decorate a shirt to display, as you stand up against domestic violence!

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY, Oct. 19:

Join One Safe Place, a comprehensive crime prevention agency devoted to preventing crime and violence in Tarrant County’s neighborhoods, schools and homes, as they present an interactive workshop at UNTHSC! This is an event you won’t want to miss! 12:05-12:55 PM, EAD 514, RSVP HERE, Bring your own lunch.

PURPLE THURSDAY, Oct. 20:

Wear purple, pick-up a purple ribbon, and take the pledge to end domestic violence – NO MORE. 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, MET Lobby

FIGHT BACK FRIDAY, Oct. 21:

Join UNTHSC police officer, Lieutenant Jeff Arrington, as he presents an interactive personal awareness and self-defense training. This will not be a strenuous workshop – you can wear what you wear to class. You will learn the techniques of self defense and discuss tips for staying safe.
