Managing Content at UNTHSC

Content Editors and Owners across campus help ensure the accuracy and relevancy of the information on our websites. Here are the responsibilities of each role:

Web Content Owner

Web Content Owners are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of relevance of the content on websites for departments or groups. The web content owner is generally the VP, Dean or Director of the department that manages the website. Owners for student websites are the faculty sponsor for the student organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Content Team to develop content strategy and maintenance plans.
  • Monitor the accuracy and relevance of their department’s website content.
  • Assign Web Content Editors for their department to maintain website content.
  • Communicate website content needs to Web Content Editor.

Web Content Editor

Web Content Editors are UNTHSC employees or students who have been assigned the duty of maintaining web content for their department or group’s website. Web Content Editors are assigned by the Web Content Owner in each department and serve in various roles within the organization. The Web Content Editor generally works closely with department leadership so they understand the needs of the department’s website.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Content Team to develop content strategy and maintenance plans.
  • Monitor, create and edit content on their department’s website.
  • Use WordPress content management system to make edits and updates to their content.
  • Alert the Web Content Manager of website issues beyond content changes, or of major changes needed.
