Research interests:Immunology, vaccination, respiratory tract diseases, antibiotics, drug testing and development, infectious diseases

Dr. Jerry Simecka is Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Immunology, and previously, he was Chairman of the Molecular Biology and Immunology Department in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He established and oversees the very successful UNTHSC Preclinical Services group to help develop and evaluate new treatments against infections. His research interests include drug development and testing, immunology, vaccination and infectious diseases.

Simecka has been at UNTHSC for more than 19 years. Prior to his tenure at UNTHSC, Dr. Simecka was a research Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
