Dr. Hank Lemke is the founding director of the UNTHSC Physician Assistant Studies Program and Chair of PA Studies. He has overseen two Health Resources and Services Administration PA Training Grants and is a reviewer for the Journal of the Physician Assistant Education Association.

In 1983, Lemke was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force Biomedical Science Corps, where he served as a physician assistant in Family Medicine and Primary Care clinics. In 1993, he was reassigned as faculty to the USAF Physician Assistant Training Program, becoming director of that program in 1995. In that same year, he received a Master of Medical Science degree from St. Francis College in Pennsylvania. He retired from the Air Force the following year and later earned his Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

In the past, he has served as President of both the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Air Force Physician Assistants, and as Vice Chair of the Accreditation Review Commission for PA Education.
