Clinical specialty:Pediatrics

Research interests:Pediatrics, with an emphasis on disease prevention and treatment

Dr. Toyya Goodrich says the focus of pediatric care should be on patient education and preventative medicine.

According to Dr. Goodrich, much of pediatrics is about informing parents what to do for their infants or young children at home. To be a great pediatrician, she believes that a doctor must stay on top of the ever-expanding changes in the management of patient care.

She finds that people are looking for a pediatrician who loves children, understands the fears and concerns of parents, and provides excellent patient care in an efficient manner.

Dr. Goodrich participates in teaching didactic courses for physician assistant and medical students. She works with third-year medical students and residents on their core rotations. Dr. Goodrich also teaches basic pediatric history and physical skills, along with an emphasis on disease prevention and treatment.

She is active in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Fort Worth Pediatrics Society, where she recently served as president for two years.
