The Office of People Development focuses on institutional strategic initiatives, including values-based culture programs and the 1115 Medicaid waiver projects. Our office works with leaders and team members from across the UNTHSC organization to build our values-based culture through leader development, coaching, and succession planning. We support six implementation teams, created to help grow and sustain our values-based culture: Best Place for All, Coaching Champions, Leader Development, Values-based Hiring, Valubility, and Vendor Relations. The Medicaid waiver team impacts the people of our community by coordinating six projects that help improve the health of our underserved populations in Tarrant county. The strategic alignment team works with the HSC team on the development, implementation and reporting of our Roadmap to 2020 strategy map. Through these initiatives, our goal is to transform the lives of those who improve the lives of others.
CHIEF PEOPLE AND PERFORMANCE OFFICER
As the Chief People and Performance Officer, Steve’s responsibilities include development, implementation, and growth of a values-based culture that includes coaching for all faculty and staff team members; leadership development at all levels from aspiring leaders to senior executives; and succession planning to ensure a sustainable culture. Additionally, he coordinates strategic initiatives set forth by the President’s Cabinet and Executive Team, leading efforts to achieve our SEE 2020 goals. In his role, Steve focuses on collaborative communication and empowered execution to drive organizational success. Steve brings a unique perspective gained from over 35 years of leadership experience in the U.S. Army, business operations, corporate recruiting, health care, and higher education. He uses this experience to help lead cultural change based on lessons learned throughout his career to serve the people of UNTHSC.
As the Executive Associate in the Office of People Development, Gayanne provides oversight of administrative operations. She utilizes her 18 years of experience at the Health Science Center to assist in keeping the office running smoothly.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
As the Executive Director of Strategic Alignment, Jeanie leads the planning and execution of UNTHSC’s strategic plan. Her primary responsibilities include working with leadership at all levels to ensure timely planning, execution, communication, and alignment of strategic initiatives and helping implement a “team of teams” framework. Jeanie also provides oversight of designated partnership programs such as the 1115 Waiver. She especially enjoys building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams to help the teams accomplish ambitious goals.
DIRECTOR OF MEDICAID WAIVER PROGRAMS
As the Director of Medicaid Waiver Programs, Shelby is responsible for directing and managing the 1115 Medicaid Waiver program at the institutional, school, and department levels. Her primary responsibilities include leading, managing, and successfully implementing the 1115 Waiver program in a way that enables revenue growth and improves efficiencies. She enjoys working with innovative projects and finding creative solutions to fulfill the mission of UNTHSC.
Clinical Quality Analyst
As the Clinical Quality Analyst and a registered nurse, Kimberly works with the 1115 Medicaid Waiver team as the clinical liaison. Kimberly is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating data collection and reviewing the information related to the projects associated with the 1115 Medicaid Waiver program. She plays a major role in the monitoring of the 1115 Waiver projects by performing medical record review audits that ensure all projects are reporting to Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) standards. With over twenty years of nursing experience, Kimberly is committed to actions that promote access to care and the impact health-related programs have on the quality of life for the community.
As a program manager, Andrew works with the 1115 Medicaid Waiver team to provide general oversight and resources aimed at the successful achievement of milestones for all seven 1115 Waiver projects at UNTHSC. In addition to general oversight, his primary responsibilities include specific oversight of three 1115 Waiver projects, tracking, interpretation, and reporting of financial information related to UNTHSC 1115 Waiver projects, and coordinating reporting for UNTHSC 1115 Waiver projects as required by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Andrew enjoys working with teams to creatively solve problems and remove barriers to success. Utilizing his background in graduate medical education and emergency room care, Andrew works with the 1115 Wavier teams to implement innovative solutions designed to promote goal achievement.
As a Strategic Program Manager, Whitney is responsible for managing, guiding, and tracking all seven 1115 Waiver projects at UNTHSC. She manages on-going data and financial analysis for each project, and manages project status reports and communicates findings to various leaders at UNTHSC. Additionally, she assists the Waiver team in scheduling all project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks to ensure reporting and payment to the institution. Whitney utilizes her background in public health, working with vulnerable populations, and previous management of one of UNTHSC’s Waiver projects to help projects best serve their patients and achieve their goals.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LEADER DEVELOPMENT
As the Executive Director of Leadership Development, Jonathan works to create and implement leadership development programs for UNTHSC faculty and staff, as well as the UNTHSC Leadership Institute. His responsibilities include overseeing the current leadership development programs for students, staff, and faculty and designing new programs to equip members of the UNTHSC team to lead effectively in higher education and healthcare environments. Jonathan has over 25 years of experience leading in U.S. Army Infantry, Cavalry, and Armor units in a wide range of assignments, to include leading soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea. Before transitioning from the U.S. Army, Jonathan served as an Assistant Professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he taught leadership classes and developed leadership programs for the cadets and Army units.
PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR
As the People Development Advisor, Jessie works to build coaching and leadership programs for UNTHSC faculty and staff. Her primary responsibilities include leading the internal coaching program, supporting UNTHSC Leadership Institute programs, and coordinating cross-functional implementation teams for our values-based culture initiatives. She has a passion for inspiring growth and development in others and equipping leaders with tools to effectively coach and lead their teams. A former teacher, she utilizes her background in education and adult learning to create leadership and coaching programs designed to meet the needs of team members.
