The Office of Contract Administration will provide contract training complementary to UNT System and UNT Health Science Center policy. Be mindful that the training material and information herein is intended to be a continual work in progress. Please communicate with the appropriate departments (Office of Contract Administration, Office of General Counsel, BSC Purchasing Department, etc.) as questions and issues arise. Our goal is to provide guidance in the contract administration process and to assure proper and successful contracting at UNT Health Science Center.
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) published the Contracting Handbook that contains an overview of UNT System contracting guidelines. The handbook is available on the OGC webpage at http://untsystem.unt.edu/generalcounsel/contracts/contract-home.htm.
The Contracting Handbook should be your starting point for drafting basic contracts, but it does not provide specific information about routing contracts at the UNT Health Science Center campus. The information provided below explains the process of routing contracts at the Health Science Center campus after the steps described in the Contracting Handbook have been completed.
Use of Electronic Signatures
The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) reviewed the use of electronic signatures for business contracts and department documents as a result of the addition of Section 51.9336, Texas Education Code, by the 82nd Legislature in 2011. The evaluation resulted in the recommendation that UNTHSC use and accept electronic signatures and electronic routing for business contracts and department documents.
