Designed to equip educators with practical strategies from James Lang’s book Small Teaching.   

This one-hour training session, “Returning Back to the Basics,” is designed to equip educators with practical strategies from James Lang’s book Small Teaching. The session focuses on incremental changes in teaching methods that can significantly enhance student learning. Participants will explore three core areas: knowledge, understanding, and inspiration. Through discussions and practical applications, educators will learn to implement techniques such as retrieval practice, spaced repetition, prediction activities, and storytelling. By the end of the session, educators will have actionable insights to improve their teaching practices and inspire their students effectively.    

Objectives:  

  • Learn and apply techniques such as retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and interleaving to improve student knowledge retention. 
  • Implement strategies like connecting new information to existing knowledge, engaging in prediction activities, and encouraging deep questioning to enhance student understanding. 
  • Engage in group discussions to share experiences, challenges, and solutions related to the implementation of small teaching techniques.
