Navigating the Canvas Dashboard

With the new semester underway, this week’s Canvas Tips and Tricks provides a refresher on navigating the Canvas Dashboard.

• Students:
  • Only published courses will show on your dashboard. Unpublished courses will be listed under Future Enrollments under the Courses icon in the Global Navigation. Once published the course will automatically move to your dashboard.
• Faculty and Students:
  • • You can move the Course Cards on your dashboard using either of these methods:
      • Drag and drop the Course Cards.
      • Click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the Course Card.
        • Move tab: This provides various move options, including marking a course as “Unfavorite” or “Favorite.”
      • The Color tab (also under the three vertical dots) – You may change the Course Card color and create a course nickname.
      • For courses with a Course Card image, you may turn off the Course Card’s overlay color by clicking the Dashboard’s three vertical dots in the upper right corner and unchecking “Course Overlay.”
