Help files for Mac OS X and for iOS (as PDF and as videos) are available on an HSC server named “macserve”.
If you are running Windows 7 on an HSC PC, go to Start > Run, enter \\macserve.hsc.unt.edu and press enter. The Public folder on macserve is a public shared folder on our intranet, so no password is required.
If you are using an HSC Mac, you should have an alias in /Users/Shared. If there is no alias, click on Go in the menu bar from the Finder/Desktop and select Connect to Server….Enter macserve.hsc.unt.edu and click the plus sign so it will be added to the list of Favorite Servers; click Connect. Click on Guest; click Connect. Select Public; click OK.
Once you’re logged in to macserve, navigate to Help files.
You should be able to read the help files (PDFs) on either a PC or Mac.
To watch the videos, you should use QuickTime. If you are on a PC, you need to check Start > Programs to see if QuickTime is listed. If not, download and install QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download. Once installed, do not select to have all video play in QuickTime; this way, the videos will open in Windows Media Player, as you’re used to on a PC. If you’re on a Mac, you already have QuickTime.
