Personal Bio

Courtney is a third-year PhD student in the SARS program working with Dr. Menegaz.  She is a biological anthropologist with a Master’s degree in Palaeopathology from Durham University. Her research interests include the interrelationship between structure and function in the craniofacial complex during growth and development and how craniofacial morphology and muscle biomechanics deviate from typical development in individuals with developmental disorders.

.

Current Projects

  • Craniofacial bone mineral density during growth in mice with osteogenesis imperfecta.
  • Musculoskeletal craniofacial evolution & developmental plasticity during early life oral motor skills development.
  • Palate morphology variation during growth in mice with osteogenesis imperfecta.
  • Muscle, cartilage, and bone microCT protocol of perinatal craniofacial growth in a mouse model of osteogenesis imperfecta.
  • Parent-reported Pediatric Oral Motor Skills Surveys (POMSS) project.
  • Effects of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment on tongue pressures in infants.
    • Collaborator with Dr. Hensel (PI) on AOA research funded project
