October 15, 2010 Engaging Learners in Small and Large Groups The workshop highlights instructional strategies that will engage students in active learning and cultivate students’ higher order thinking skills in both large and small classes. |
November 5, 2010 Assessment Writing Strategies This workshop provides practical guidelines on writing effective assessment items. The Assessment Specialist at the Center for Learning and Development will work with QEP faculty to revise their assessment items during this workshop. |
December 10, 2010 Incorporating Instructional Technology in the Classroom & Individual Consultations This workshop highlights instructional technology tools available on campus, offer strategies on how to incorporate instructional technology in teaching, and provide hands-on experience using selected tools. Center for Learning and Development staff will conduct individual consultations with QEP faculty to identify an instructional technology for use in QEP courses. |
January 21, 2011 Classroom Management Strategies for Adult Learners Post baccalaureate students have different learning styles and varied experiences. This workshop focuses on best instructional strategies for creating a dynamic learning environment and facilitating higher order thinking. |
February 18, 2011 Using Blackboard to Cultivate Students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills This workshop highlights how to incorporate the “online” components of a Learning Management System like Blackboard to facilitate higher order thinking. |
March 11, 2011 Cooperative Learning Strategies The focus of this workshop is on how to design and facilitate cooperative learning activities to promote active learning and higher order thinking. |
April 8, 2011 Facilitation The CLD staff will work with the QEP Teaching Scholars to prepare for their presentations by providing individual consultations. |
May 6, 2011 Demonstration Session I To facilitate the completion of this first-year QEP milestone the QEP faculty will conduct a teaching demonstration highlighting their incorporation of instructional strategies, technology and assessment strategies that promote students’ higher order thinking in their QEP course(s). |
