Ruth Roman | Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President
Ruth Roman, MPH, serves as the chief operating officer and executive vice president for the Office of Operations and Business Management at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. In this role, Roman is responsible for overseeing HSC’s core functional areas, campus security, operations, strategy and operational transformation, culture and experience, space management and more, as well as developing and implementing the long-term goals for the university’s growth and improvement. The following departments reside within the office: Police Department, Culture & Experience, Strategy and Operational Transformation, and Facilities Services and Management. The OOBM manages a multitude of services, including parking, badging, custodial services, landscaping, plumbing and electrical services, property control, mail, real estate management, sustainability, environmental health and safety in radiology, biochemical and laboratory areas, fire safety, employee and supervisory engagement, values, strategic planning and management, after-action reviews and process improvement.
Ms. Roman has more than 30 years of experience in public health with a focus on developing, implementing and leading public health programs at the local, national and federal levels. Ms. Roman has extensive experience in program evaluation and development, policy, strategy, process improvement, collaboration and building partnerships. She has served in many leadership roles, including executive officer in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health; interim executive officer for the Assistant Secretary for Administration; chief of operations and management at Commissioned Corps Headquarters, Office of the Surgeon General; director, Office of Program Operations and Deputy executive officer, HIV/AIDS Bureau/Health Resources and Services Administration; administrator, ID, Catholic Medical Center; director, HIV/STD National Council of La Raza; and assistant director, Communicable Diseases, NYC Department of Health. In these roles, Ms. Roman has been responsible for the planning, development, coordination, allocation, fiscal and administrative oversight for all operational and related areas.
She received a Master of Public Health in Health Care Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Health & Society/Health Administration from Brown University.
