Frank Filipetto, DO, FACOFP
Dean and Professor, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Frank Filipetto oversees the day-to-day operations of the medical school curriculum to insure that the highest quality of education attainable is delivered to TCOM medical students. Prior to assuming the role of interim dean, he served as UNTHSC’s Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, where he currently holds the appointment of Everett Endowed Professor.
Prior to joining UNTHSC, Dr. Filipetto served as an Associate Professor and Vice Chair and later Acting Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM), now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He was also a faculty member at UMDNJ’s School of Nursing and School of Health Related Professions.
A recipient of the Fellow Award from the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Dr. Filipetto was recognized as a 2010 Top Doc by South Jersey Magazine. He also was honored as a UMDNJ Master Educator and received the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Foundation of UMDNJ.
Dr. Filipetto earned his DO at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his BA in Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified in Family Practice by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, of which he is Vice Chair of the Osteopathic Clinical Research Committee.
