Dr. Shafik Dharamsi | Dean of the College of Public Health
Shafik Dharamsi, PhD, is the dean of the College of Public Health at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. With more than 25 years of international experience, Dr. Dharamsi brings a wealth of expertise to his role as the fourth dean of the college.
His academic career began in Canada, where he earned an interdisciplinary PhD from the University of British Columbia and achieved academic tenure in the Department of Family Medicine. He also co-directed the UBC Center for International Health, driving innovative global health research and curriculum development to address health disparities in underserved communities.
Previous positions include regional director for early childhood development and poverty alleviation in East Africa with the Aga Khan Development Network and founding associate dean of the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. He also has served as dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso and senior advisor to the provost at New Mexico State University.
Committed to advancing global public health, Dr. Dharamsi serves on the boards of several national and international organizations.
