Dr. Charles Taylor | Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs

Charles Taylor, PharmD, FNAP, is the provost and executive vice president of Academic Affairs at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. As the chief academic officer reporting directly to the president, Dr. Taylor stands at the vanguard of transformative change. His unwavering belief in the student experience propels his vision for a health science center that transcends conventional boundaries, leaving an indelible impact on lives.

Dr. Taylor champions academic excellence and orchestrates symphonies of collaboration, where values and innovation harmonize. HSC’s evolution extends beyond mere expansion — it’s a metamorphosis. From navigating the challenges of COVID-19 to launching HSC’s inaugural undergraduate program in 2022, the university remains steadfast in addressing health care needs. The birth of the College of Nursing in 2023 and strategic integration of research into education via the Graduate School exemplify HSC’s commitment. More than $20 million in external support fueled HSC’s mission to “transform lives to improve the lives of others.”

Dr. Taylor’s academic career spans broad dimensions. As a tenured professor of pharmacotherapy in the College of Pharmacy, he bridges theory and practice. Dr. Taylor served as dean of HSC’s College of Pharmacy. He also has served in numerous higher education leadership roles, including vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College of Pharmacy at Northeast Ohio Medical University, senior associate dean at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, department chair and associate dean at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and vice chair of pharmacy practice at the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Taylor’s journey began at Auburn University, were he earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Postgraduate residency training at Duke University Medical Center refined his health care perspectives. A Certificate in Management Development from Harvard University Graduate School of Education deepened his understanding of values-driven leadership. Today, he stands as a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice — an accolade reserved for exceptional leaders in his field.
