Campus-wide Activity

In preparation for connecting people at this year’s PeopleFest, you are invited to join in on an amazing quest titled “HSC Connection Exploration.” Weather permitting, the quest will begin Friday, February 25 at 12pm and continue through Tuesday, March 2 at 12pm. You will have the opportunity to explore the campus in search of hidden key words which will reveal your final destination. Throughout your search, you will have the opportunity to learn more about important work that supports our HSC mission. Whether going on the quest by yourself or working with a team of coworkers, decipher the clues to discover these locations. Look for a PeopleFest 2022 poster at each location that will contain the hidden key word critical to solving the final clue. Unscramble the words and solve the puzzle to claim your prize!

Scavenger Hunt Clue #1

At this location, you can find Laura Gonzalez, Senior Administrative Coordinator, working with her team to create health equity and diversity initiatives and supports the efforts to address health disparities in our nation.

Question: What department does Laura work for?

To find the building where Laura works…go to this building which was built in 1976. This was the first permanent building on campus.

Key Word Instructions: Find the floor and office where Laura works and you will retrieve one of the key words to solving your final clue.

Scavenger Hunt Clue #2

Did you know? Sandra Boyd was born and raised in California, then spent 14 years in Louisiana. Wow! Talk about a big change. Sandra is the Administrative Coordinator for a ground-breaking research institute that is creating innovative ways to test for and treat Alzheimer’s.

Question: What institute does Sandra work for?

To find the building where Sandra works…this newly renovated space was once Envision Imaging.

Scavenger Hunt Clue #3

Skip the long lines at the corner pharmacy! Here you will find Dr. Farrah Shaikh hard at work assisting customers with their purchases of over-the-counter products such as allergy, cough and cold, digestive health, first aid, pain & fever, pediatric products, and vitamins.

Question: What is the name of the location where Dr. Farrah Shaikh works?

To find the building where Dr. Shaikh works…which building has its own garage with connection to the Library?

Scavenger Hunt Clue #4

You may have seen him creating some cool stuff. Stephen McBroom is located in the building that has the most “stories” and his department is known for creating innovative learning experiences.

Question: What department does Stephen work for?

To find the floor and building where Stephen is located…Shhhhhh! Keep quite as you navigate through the studying students to visit his office.

See it to believe it! This is where you will find Sherri Feris working hard with her team that focuses on solutions for eye diseases, such as glaucoma.

Question: What institute does Sherri work for?

This building is the only location you can find fresh french fries and is the building where early voting recently took place.

Key Word Instructions: Find the lab where Sherri works and you will find the poster in the hallway.

Scavenger Hunt Clue #6

Alex Fernandez is helping people stay fit. In the building where he works, you can shoot hoops on the outdoor basketball court or pedal miles to nowhere on a stationary bike, all without leaving campus.

Question: What is the name of the location where Alex works?

Scavenger Hunt Clue #7

JC Killingsworth, a 2021 Valubility of the Year nominee, supports and serves alongside his comrades who protect HSC and patrols by foot, electric bike, and vehicle.

You may have parked your car on top of this building.

You could say that Joshua Christian works with dummies. He works in a location where students and experienced healthcare providers acquire new skills to improve patient outcomes in a safe and simulated environment.

Question: What Center does Joshua work for?

If you look outside this building you might see people playing flag football on its lawn.

Scavenger Hunt Clue #9

Kendel Rogers works in an office where you can find an ecosystem with pipelines that grow innovation and entrepreneurship.

Question: What’s the name of where Kendel works?

This six-story building is within walking distance. You might want to stop by 7- Eleven for a snack on your way over.

Scavenger Hunt Clue #10

Claudia Yellott provides great sensitivity and care to donors. The program she works for provides a “Legacy of Life” ceremony.

Question: What program does Claudia work for?

 

This building just recently had two large cooling towers added to its roof. You literally can’t miss them if you look up.
