The Office of Health Promotion is committed to improving the well-being of everyone on campus through fitness and wellness programming. We offer a variety of services including Wellness on Wheels presentations for your office, an on-site fitness center, personal training, group fitness classes, the Team Lose It weight loss program and more.

Health Promotion Staff

Nicki McGee, EdD, MPH

Director, Student Services

Specialty: Health Promotion and Student Conduct

Bio: Nicki McGee is the Student Conduct Officer for the university. She feels honored to be able to help students succeed with unique guidance while upholding the highest ethical standards. In her tenure at UNTHSC, she has served in every position within the Office of Health Promotion, from the front desk to the director. Starting with an office of one, her vision has come to fruition. Nicki graduated from University of North Texas with a BS in Kinesiology, from the UNT Health Science Center with a MPH in 2008, and completed her doctoral degree focusing on Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University in 2014. She spends her free time with her hilariously witty son and husband.


Chelsea Barron

Assistant Director, Health Promotion

Specialty: Strength and Fitness Programs

Bio: Chelsea Barron has been with UNTHSC since October of 2011. She graduated with a BS in Kinesiology from UTA in 2010 and is currently working on her MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Chelsea creates the strength and fitness programs for the Office of Health Promotion, including but not limited to personal training, group fitness and Team Lose It! She also manages the annual UNTHSC Cowtown team. Chelsea’s personal mission is to help others find a love for exercise and movement! In her free time, she plays soccer, dances, hangs out with her wonderful fiance and cuddles her three impressively cute dogs.


Pam Curtis

Health Promotion Associate

Specialty: K-12 STEM Outreach Programs

Bio: Pam Curtis coordinates K-12 educational outreach for the university. She actively participates in the Valubility Committee and Diversity Council. Pam also assists with health promotion and fitness center programming. Pam graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Biology in 2006 and from the UNT Health Science Center with a MS in Forensic Genetics in 2009. She spends most of her free time with her wonderful husband and their three dogs.


Melinda Ciaglia

Health Promotion Associate

Specialty: Fitness Center Management

Bio: Melinda joined the UNT Health Science Center team in October 2015. Melinda was born and raised in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. She received a softball scholarship to Eastern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies, concentration Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. After graduation Melinda became a Student Assistant Coach for the EIU Softball team and obtained her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration. Melinda can be found most of the time at the front desk of the Fitness Center. She coordinates all facility related issues, fitness memberships and assists with health promotion programming. In her free time, Melinda enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and two dogs.


Cassie Dennis

Health Promotion Associate

Specialty: Wellness Programs

Bio: Cassie Dennis recently joined the UNTHSC family in October 2015. Cassie brings knowledge in various areas of Wellness and recently completed her Master’s Degree at the University of Alabama in Health Studies/Health Promotion. Rolltide!

With a background in massage therapy, fitness/health coaching, and community health, Cassie has the well-rounded knowledge to encourage others to take control of their health. Presently, with her combination of life experiences, education, and professional background she is putting her focus on creating health promotion programs to benefit the whole person. She believes: when as individuals we maintain good health, it empowers us to achieve all we aspire to be in this life, without restraint.
