Dr. Katie Cardarelli, associate professor of Epidemiology, was presented with the 2013 Discover Award by the Girls Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains at the organization’s recent Women of Distinction Luncheon. The event honored recipients who characterize three keys to leadership at the heart of the Girl Scout leadership experience, to Discover, Connect and Take Action. Dr. Cardarelli was recognized for her community-based work in health prevention, targeting underserved communities to reduce health disparities, chronic disease and infant mortality in North Texas.
