Leading campus operations is something that Barrett takes to heart, ensuring that the facilities and grounds are aesthetically pleasing, clean, well maintained, energy efficient, and safe and secure. His teams are passionate about supporting the Health Science Center’s mission while providing responsive, friendly and efficient customer service.
Since joining UNTHSC in 1999 as Construction Manager, Barrett has seen the campus more than double in size to nearly 1.5 million square feet of facilities located on 33 acres in Fort Worth’s Cultural District. He relies on new and innovative approaches to grow campus services, including the implementation of the campus sustainability program. The program encompasses energy conservation, recycling, shared vanpools and sponsorship of Fort Worth Bike Sharing. Students, faculty and staff also tend a community garden, donating a portion of the harvest to the Fort Worth Food Bank.
Barrett earned his MBA from Texas Christian University and his BS in Industrial Technology – Construction Technology from Texas State University. He holds APPA certification from the Institute for Facilities Management.
As an alumni of Leadership Fort Worth, he strives to increase the value that UNTHSC brings to the Fort Worth community.
