This year’s DO Dash and Health Fair was held on Oct. 20. The annual 5k and 1k walk and run was sponsored by the TCOM Class of 2010 and benefited colon cancer screenings and awareness.
On race day, registration for the annual 5k and 1k walk started bright and early… actually it wasn’t even bright yet.
Dr. Monte Troutman, associate professor of internal medicine and chairman of the gastroenterology division, spoke about this year’s beneficiary. Money raised by the race will go to colon cancer screening and awareness at the UNT Health Science Center Patient Care Center.
Dr. Marc Hahn, dean of TCOM, fired the starting gun to begin the race.
And they’re off! 138 runners and walkers of all ages participated in the race. The 5k course takes runners through the Monticello and Arlington Heights neighborhoods.
The Health Fair sponsored by TCOM and UNT Health featured manipulative and soft tissue treatments, wellness checks and preventative education.
The UNTHSC Employee Benefit Action Committee provided two bounce houses for the kids.
